Finnish design house Marimekko is accelerating its expansion in Asia, with plans to enter Indonesia and the Philippines this year.
The brand will enter both markets through a franchise model. In Indonesia, the first store will open at Jakarta’s Plaza Senayan in partnership with PT Panen Lestari Indonesia.
In the Philippines, Marimekko has teamed up with Rustan Commercial Corporation to launch a shop-in-shop program across premium department stores in Metro Manila. Both openings are expected this summer.
“Indonesia’s rapidly growing market offers exciting opportunities for Marimekko,” said Natacha Defrance, senior VP, sales, region east, at Marimekko.
“Jakarta is currently the most populous city in the world, and the growing appetite for interesting design is driving growth in the fashion market. The Philippines, on the other hand, is an attractive developing market for Marimekko, and we see this as a good time to introduce our brand to the consumers and gain experience,” she said.
Asia-Pacific continues to anchor Marimekko’s international growth, with an established presence in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. By the end of 2025, the company operated 94 stores and shop-in-shops across the region, alongside e-commerce platforms in each market.
