McDonald’s Philippines has opened a new ‘Green and Good’ store at Il Corso in Cebu City, positioning the site as a sustainability-led restaurant and a space that showcases local culture.
As part of the company’s environmental program, the store is fitted with rooftop solar panels, solar-powered lampposts, a rainwater-harvesting system, power-saving motion sensors, LED lighting, and a Variable Refrigerant Flow air-conditioning system.
In addition, the restaurant also uses reusable utensils for dine-in and paper packaging for takeaway to help reduce waste.
These features are designed to reduce energy use, cut water consumption and lower the restaurant’s overall environmental footprint.
Beyond sustainability, the restaurant incorporates design elements inspired by Cebu’s creative industries.
The exterior showcases solihiya patterns (weaving style) and sawali-style finishes, a nod to the province’s weaving and furniture-making heritage, while rattan, bamboo and wood-inspired accents appear throughout the store.
“The store design itself is a tribute to the vibrant creative scene in Cebu, widely recognised as the Design Capital of the Philippines,” said McDonald’s Philippines CEO Kenneth Yang.
