Metro Retail Stores Group Inc. on Thursday said that it was optimistic about growth opportunities in the Visayas region with the company having embarked on projects in Leyte, Samar and Negros Occidental.
“We are excited to bring modern retail services to communities that have long been underserved,” Metro Retail President and Chief Operating Officer Manuel Alberto said in a statement.
Metro Retail, through a joint venture agreement with the provincial government of Samar, is developing a project in Catbalogan that is expected to boost retail access, community development, and regional infrastructure.
The first phase involves a two-story retail building featuring a supermarket and a compact department store, with a subsequent phase to expand the facility into a 2- to 3-story mall.
A convention center, government center and transport terminal have already been completed and handed over to the local government.
