Listed Philippine Seven Corp. (PSC) is prioritizing the expansion of its 7-Eleven convenience store network in the Visayas and Mindanao (VisMin), where sales have outperformed other regions, as it works toward its target of 5,000 stores.
“We overweight Visayas — we overweight VisMin because sales there have been stronger… The percentage [in VisMin] has been higher,” PSC Chairman Jose Victor P. Paterno told reporters on the sidelines of an event on Thursday last week.
Mr. Paterno said the company has opened more stores in the Visayas and Mindanao since the pandemic, reflecting stronger sales in the two regions.
He added that PSC continues to expand in Luzon while maintaining its focus on VisMin.
PSC, the exclusive Philippine licensee of the 7-Eleven convenience store brand, said it remains on track to expand its network to 5,000 stores this year.
The company expanded its store network to 4,491 outlets in 2025 from 4,130 a year earlier after opening 361 new stores. Of the total, 53.42% are company-owned, while 46.58% are franchised.
PSC said stronger sales of fresh food offerings and its proprietary foodservice brands supported growth across its network.
The company also continued investing in store modernization, technology, supply chain infrastructure, and operational improvements to support future growth and improve efficiency.
This year, PSC has allocated P5 billion in capital expenditures (capex) to open 400 additional stores by yearend despite global uncertainties linked to the conflict in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, PSC said it is continuing the transition of its stores to renewable energy through its partnership with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES).
Asked whether the company plans to expand the partnership beyond the current rollout, Mr. Paterno said PSC is focused on the initial implementation.
