Colombo, Sri Lanka — The Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) has been re-elected to the advisory council of the Federation of Asia Pacific Retailers Association (FAPRA) during the 21st Asia Pacific Retailers Convention & Exhibition (APRCE) held from September 4-6. This re-election secures the Philippines another two-year term on the council, reinforcing its significant role in shaping the retail landscape across the Asia-Pacific region.
The convention, themed “Transaction to Transformation,” gathered prominent retail leaders from member countries to discuss the evolving dynamics of the industry.
Roberto Claudio, Sr., representing the PRA, expressed his gratitude for the continued trust placed in the Philippines. “Being re-elected to FAPRA’s advisory council is both an honor and a significant responsibility. We are committed to fostering collaboration and driving innovation within the retail sector throughout the Asia-Pacific region,” Claudio stated.
Claudio also emphasized the importance of harmonizing international policies to facilitate smoother trade relations. “Taxation and foreign laws should be aligned with each other to create a more conducive environment for cross-border retail activities. Aligning these laws will not only benefit businesses but also enhance consumer experiences across the region,” he added.
The Philippines’ re-election underscores its active participation in addressing key challenges facing the retail industry, such as digital transformation, sustainability, and regulatory alignment. With its position on the advisory council, the PRA aims to advocate for policies that promote growth and adaptability in an ever-changing market.
The APRCE continues to serve as a pivotal platform for dialogue and cooperation among Asia-Pacific retailers. The event highlights the collective efforts to navigate the industry’s transformation, ensuring that retail businesses remain resilient and responsive to emerging trends and consumer needs.
