The new generation of leaders are now at the helm of their respective companies, making difficult decisions and waves to rise above the challenges that may have come their way and accelerate growth as we enter a new era of retail.
But the transition of power doesn’t happen overnight and most of the previous generation (basically their parents) are still helping to manage the company. Given that there are different generations in a family business, they most likely have different approaches in managing and running the company. But how do they complement and blend each other exactly?
Let’s Talk Retail’s 35th episode is not just about how you can successfully run a family business but also how you can coexist with the more experienced management and the new and upcoming generation to lead the company.
The Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) is honored to have Blims Lifestyle Group (BLG) Chairman Samie Lim and Chief Operating Officer, Greg Lim, for this podcast episode as they share how different their management styles are and how they work together to grow their company year after year.
When Greg was asked how different Samie’s management style is, he explained, “He’s always been a visionary. He talks about where we can go for the next five to ten years, and he inspires people to think big and do big things.”
On the other hand, Samie shared how Greg is leading BLG, “Retail is detail. He knows exactly how many items are in the warehouse, how many are going to be delivered tomorrow, how they will be delivered, how many trucks, and the time of the trucks that will be back. He knows the sales of each of the stores, he knows the salespeople. In all the details, he knows. And that, I think, is what probably retailers should do.”
